World Conference of Mayors

PROPOSAL_BROCHURE[2]

In April 1984, Honorable Johnny Lawrence Ford, then Mayor of Tuskegee, Alabama, and President of the National Conference of Black Mayors Inc. (NCBM) founded and organized The World Conference of Mayors Inc. (WCM) as a non-profit and non-political conference, comprising mayors, former mayors, as well as other elected and appointed local/public officials.

The primary objective of WCM is to stimulate positive and constructive relations between mayors internationally, based on interlocking interests and concerns. Through a network of international municipal associations, mayors, and units of local governments, The World Conference of Mayors Inc. plans, designs, and manages an international, intergovernmental communications system, promoting their seven goals. These seven auspicious goals are trust, trade, tourism, technology, treasury, training and twin cities.

The World Conference of Mayors Inc. embraces partnership with other organizations and individuals across the globe that share in their vision. WCM does not discriminate against any organizational or individual partnership as long as it would constitute a win-win relationship to precipitate the fulfilment of each other’s vision and mission.

The organization has a shibboleth, “We are together” that embodies a deep-seated belief that unity plays an integral role in the fulfilment of WCM’s vision and goals.
